Verkhovna Rada introduces new digital rights: what will change for Ukrainians.
Approval of the bill by the Verkhovna Rada
According to inkorr.com: The Verkhovna Rada has supported the bill that amends the Civil Code in its first reading. This initiative is aimed at providing proper legal protection for intangible goods in the context of rapid technological development.
The law provides for the implementation of new digital rights for citizens, including:
- the right to a digital persona;
- prohibition of the use of Deepfake;
- the right to be forgotten;
- digital privacy.
In addition, the changes concern the fields of biomedicine and rights related to a person's death, including informed consent, bodily and mental inviolability, as well as posthumous rights.
The bill will be revised before the second reading, taking into account public opinion to comply with European standards in the field of human rights and digital regulation.
This bill is of great importance in the context of the development of digital technologies and the protection of people's rights in new conditions. The implementation of new norms can improve the legal status of citizens in the era of digital changes, ensuring their fundamental rights to protect personal information and image online.
