Severance Pay in 2026: Eligibility and Payment Amounts for Dismissed Ukrainian Workers
According to Novyny.live: The State Labor Service has outlined the specific circumstances and payment amounts for severance pay in 2026. These payments are mandated upon termination of an employment contract under the grounds specified in Article 44 of the Ukrainian Labor Code.
Severance Pay Amounts
For 2026, the minimum wage is set at 8,647 Ukrainian hryvnias (UAH). In the case of conscription for military service, the severance payment will equal two minimum wages. If the termination is due to an employer's violation of labor laws, the payment must be no less than three months of the employee's average earnings. Furthermore, for the termination of an official's authority, the severance pay must reach at least six months of average income.
Severance pay will be provided in several key situations, including:
- an employee's refusal of a work transfer;
- organizational changes within the company;
- an employee's unsuitability for their position;
- reinstatement of a previously employed worker;
- inability to provide work due to active combat operations.
These scenarios represent the conditions under which employees are entitled to this form of financial support upon dismissal. These regulations are part of Ukraine's labor protections, which have been adapted in response to the ongoing socio-economic challenges. The clear criteria for severance are particularly crucial for providing a safety net during the current period of instability and conflict.
