Military Expert on Defending Cities from FPV Drones

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian serviceman Ihor Lutsenko has stated that fully shielding the country's cities from FPV drones is impossible due to a lack of effective countermeasure systems. According to him, no technology currently exists anywhere in the world that can completely neutralize these unmanned aerial vehicles.

As a result, protecting urban centers near the front lines has become an extremely difficult challenge.

“Complete coverage for cities located close to the front is practically unattainable,” Lutsenko said.
He emphasized that defending places like Nikopol and Kherson represents what he called a '100% unmanageable task' for Ukrainian forces.

This issue has grown more urgent following recent assaults by Russian troops. During the night of June 27, Zaporizhzhia came under attack, with the number of injured rising to six people. Additionally, on June 26, a Russian drone struck the Sumy region, killing a 66-year-old homeowner. These incidents highlight the serious threat FPV drones pose to civilians and infrastructure in Ukraine.

Lutsenko’s statement underscores the realities of modern warfare, where emerging technologies like FPV drones present a major danger to both military and civilian targets. The absence of effective countermeasures points to the urgent need for new defensive technologies and strategies to protect at-risk cities and populations. It also reinforces the importance of international security and defense cooperation to build greater resilience against these evolving challenges.
