New Leave Rules for Ukrainian Military: What the Law Now Provides.
According to inkorr.com: The new rules for granting leave to Ukrainian servicemen have already come into force. The law provides for mandatory annual leave taking into account the needs of combat participants and those who are studying.
Changes in Leave Rules
According to the new legislation, the duration of leave remains 30 days, of which 15 days can be used as continuous rest at the discretion of the serviceman. The opportunity to receive an additional 14 days of rest for combat participants has also been reintroduced. For the first time, servicemen aged 18–25 who are obtaining education have been granted the right to educational leave.
If servicemen decide to refuse leave, they are advised to submit a report, contact the military police, or reach out to the Ministry of Defense hotline. Furthermore, there is a right to appeal to the President's authorized representative.
Legal Assistance
War veterans have the right to free legal assistance, including representation in court. For military personnel who do not have veteran status, consultations and assistance in preparing documents are available. Representation in court is possible only for certain categories of citizens.
These changes are aimed at supporting servicemen by providing them with the opportunity to recuperate after completing combat tasks. Leave now needs to consider both the needs of those who are already serving and those who are studying, which is an important step in the development of social policy for the military.
