Tribute to Ricky Hatton by Vincent Kompany
According to The Sun: Vincent Kompany compared Ricky Hatton to Thomas Müller during an emotional tribute to the boxer.
The legendary British boxer was found dead in his home in Manchester on Sunday, and this sad news was confirmed by his manager Paul Speak.
TwitterKompany, who is 39 years old, spent over ten years in Manchester, playing for 'Manchester City'.
He was asked about Hatton before the Champions League match between Bayern Munich and 'Chelsea' on Wednesday night.
The Belgian expert drew parallels between Hatton's dedication to Manchester and Bayern legend Thomas Müller's ties to Munich.
“Ricky is a phenomenon that is hard to explain.
“If you have been in Manchester, you understand how great Ricky was.
“For German journalists, he is like Thomas Müller from Munich, but from another sport.
“I can't remember any important event for Man City that he wasn't involved in or at the center of.
“He gained respect from both sides, and that is not easy in this part of the world.
“These are terrible news.
“I can't imagine a single Mancunian not talking about it while calling their relatives, as he influenced everyone's life.”
“It is sad, and my thoughts are with the family and loved ones.
“I hope many people remember the great things he did for the city.”
Kompany reminisced about spending time with Hatton during an evening with him and Oasis star Liam Gallagher.
Hatton's death occurred just a few months after he announced a return to boxing, with a fight against Aysa Al Dahi planned for December in Dubai.
