Zelensky on the main obstacle to peace: 85% of Ukrainians oppose territorial concessions

According to ТСН: Most Ukrainians support the idea of peace but oppose giving up territories in the east of the country. This issue has become the main obstacle in negotiations.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared his thoughts in an interview with the American TV channel Fox News. He noted that Ukrainian society is tired of the war but remains resilient. The president referred to the results of sociological surveys indicating a desire for peace but also a reluctance to yield territories.

“People want peace. President Trump said he saw a survey showing that about 85% of Ukrainians want peace. Yes, 85% support peace, while 85% oppose leaving the East, the Donbas. This means that everyone wants peace, but a just peace,” said Zelensky.

It was previously reported that Volodymyr Zelensky, during a phone conversation with European leaders, stated Ukraine's readiness to withdraw troops from part of the front line and create a demilitarized zone if Russia also takes similar measures.

Thus, the position of Ukrainian society and the country's leadership remains clear: the desire for peace unites people, but it must be peace with the preservation of territorial integrity. The next steps in negotiations may determine how quickly a compromise and stability in the region can be achieved.
