Russian occupiers again carried out an attack on Ukraine
On the night of September 21, 2024, Russian occupiers once again carried out a large-scale air attack on several regions of the country. According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the enemy used a variety of air attack weapons, including ballistic missiles, guided aerial missiles, and strike drones.
This was reported by "Khvilya", citing Ukrainian information resources.
Four Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles were launched from occupied Crimea and the Rostov region, targeting the Dnipropetrovsk region. Additionally, five Kh-59/69 guided aerial missiles were launched from the airspace of the temporarily occupied territory of the Zaporizhia region. The attack was complemented by 16 Shahed-type strike drones launched from Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk.
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine were involved in repelling the attack. As a result of their coordinated actions, five Kh-59/69 guided aerial missiles and 11 strike drones were destroyed. Another five UAVs were disabled by electronic warfare means.
Air defense actively operated in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Poltava, Odesa, and Mykolaiv regions. However, despite the effectiveness of Ukrainian forces, some of the enemy missiles reached their targets.
Cities of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, and Kharkiv suffered
The most affected was Kryvyi Rih, where three people died, among them 79 and 75-year-old women and a 12-year-old boy. This was reported by the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Sergey Lysak. Three more people were injured – a 17-year-old boy and two men aged 31 and 50. Two private houses caught fire, but firefighters managed to control the flames. More than two dozen houses were damaged, and two were completely destroyed. A school, garage, and several cars were also affected.
In Dnipro, a 6-story educational building, three high-rise buildings, and 72 cars were damaged. Nikopol also suffered attacks using drones and artillery, resulting in the injury of a 38-year-old woman.
In Kharkiv, several hits and damages to civilian infrastructure, including a hospital and a hotel, were recorded in the city center.
