Age limits for drivers: what is happening?

According to inkorr.com: Discussions about the possible introduction of age limits for drivers in Ukraine have intensified due to the approach of domestic legislation to European norms. However, the bill with this initiative has been withdrawn from consideration, as reported on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

Deputies' proposals

At the discussion stage of the bill, it was planned to introduce additional requirements for older drivers, in particular, mandatory medical examinations to confirm their ability to drive safely. In many European countries, senior drivers undergo regular medical checks, but in Ukraine, this initiative did not receive support.

Cancellation of the bill

According to official information, bill No. 40559 has been definitively removed from the agenda. This means that it will not be put to a vote, and its discussion has ended. If the topic arises again, the authors will have to start the process of registering a new law from scratch.

  • There will be no age limits for drivers in Ukraine.

  • The procedures for obtaining and renewing driving licenses remain unchanged.

  • In the event of the initiative reappearing, it will go through a full cycle of discussion and agreement.

Thus, currently, the issue of introducing age limits for drivers in Ukraine is not being considered. However, the problem of adhering to traffic rules and safety on the roads remains relevant, particularly in the context of fines for violations and restrictions for drivers who are in poor condition.
