Volodymyr Palibroda: the story of a hero who gave his life for a comrade.
According to inkorr.com: Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of those who died in the Russo-Ukrainian war. Today we will remember Volodymyr Palibroda.
Life and Service of Volodymyr Palibroda
Volodymyr Palibroda, also known as Tuman, was killed in Kharkiv Oblast on May 26, 2022, while saving his comrade and received severe injuries from shrapnel. He was 53 years old. Born on January 17, 1969, in Bukovina, he dedicated almost his entire career to military service, participating in various peacekeeping missions abroad. He always prioritized the defense of Ukraine.
Commemoration
Volodymyr's family decided to immortalize his memory by renaming one of the streets in Chernivtsi in his honor. Despite initially refusing to go to the front, he could not leave his comrades in trouble. After two months of service on the front line, he died without telling his loved ones about his experiences.
I asked, begged him to stay: 'Volodya, you will be useful here. You will work as an instructor, teach children.' But he didn’t even want to listen. Since February 24, he didn’t eat or sleep. I set dinner for him: 'Volodya, it’s time to eat!'. And he says: 'I can’t think about food!'. He is a real man, a true hero... He missed the young ones who died in the war so much. And he said: 'I want to be alive, see everything. And they should live and live...', recalls his wife Natalia about her husband.
Volodymyr Palibroda was posthumously thanked for his courage and patriotism. He is buried in the Alley of Glory at the Central Cemetery in Chernivtsi. Ukrainians continue to honor the memory of the fallen heroes who gave their lives for the independence and freedom of Ukraine.
By honoring the memory of the fallen heroes, including Volodymyr Palibroda, Ukrainians strive for them to always remain in our hearts and memory. Such actions not only indicate the sacrifices made for our freedom but also remind us of our unity in the fight for a better future.
