According to ТСН: The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, expressed the opinion that the process of the country's accession to the European Union could significantly accelerate.

During a conversation with journalists, he emphasized that the speed of integration depends on the specific actions of the Ukrainian authorities and the leaders of member states, provided that this process is not impeded by political barriers.

According to him, Ukraine clearly understands the requirements regarding changes in legislation and the implementation of internal reforms. At the same time, he stressed the unacceptability of political blocking, which has nothing to do with the country's readiness for accession.

Zelensky also noted that information about those who create artificial barriers on Kyiv's path is open. He pointed out that some EU members are slowing down the process for political reasons, ignoring Ukraine's real successes in adapting legislation to EU standards.

Why EU membership is important for Ukraine

The president views euro-integration not only as an economic or political project. For Ukraine, it is an integral part of security guarantees, complementing agreements with key allies, including the USA.

“For us, membership in the European Union is security guarantees not only economic but also political and geopolitical. While we expect specific details in the guarantees from the USA that we are currently fighting for, from the European Union — it is precisely guaranteed membership,” he emphasized.

Zelensky drew attention to the importance of defining specific deadlines for accession. Although the final decision depends on the leaders of the EU, Ukraine insists that this process should not depend on external influences, especially from Russia or those forces trying to block the country's development.

The president also emphasized the serious consequences in the absence of financial support from the European Union. He noted that without assistance, it will be significantly more difficult for Ukraine to deter Russian aggression, and the EU risks “paying in blood, not money.”

This president's comment underscores the relevance of the euro-integration issue for Ukraine amid the current political situation. The speed of accession to the EU will undoubtedly depend on the efforts of both sides — Ukraine and the EU. Observing the development of events, it is important to note that EU support can play a key role in ensuring security and stability in the region.
