Loss of influential ally for Ukraine. What experts say about the resignation of the head of the Anglican Church.
Resignation of the head of the Anglican Church Justin Welby - a loss of an important ally for Ukraine
Justin Welby, the head of the Anglican Church, has resigned, causing concern among Ukrainian religious experts about the support for Ukraine from Western countries. The Archbishop of Canterbury has always spoken about the need for decisive support for Ukraine and compared the struggle of Ukrainians with Britain's struggle during World War II. However, his resignation may impact this support.
The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was one of the staunchest critics of Russian aggression and accused the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Kirill of blessing Russian aggression. Once again, the head of the Anglican Church has also expressed support for Ukraine and actively defended peace in Africa. Ukraine especially valued his position, especially in the context of the competition between Russia and Great Britain for influence in Africa.
The loss of Justin Welby as an ally for Ukraine may put us in a difficult situation and worsen our support from Western countries. Ukrainian religious experts consider his resignation a loss of a valuable ally and an expected supporter of Ukraine.
