Wayne Rooney talks about dinner at the Beckhams: what surprised the guests.
Wayne Rooney's revelations about dinner at the Beckham family
According to The Sun: Wayne Rooney shared that the dinner he was invited to at the Beckham family was not actually that luxurious.
England players had the opportunity not only to play together but also to form friendships. Their partners, Coleen and Victoria, became well-known representatives of the WAG female collective.
PA GettyRooney made his debut for the England national team in 2003, while Beckham was already playing for Real Madrid.
Since then, the football legend of Manchester United, together with Frank Lampard, received an invitation to dinner at the Beckhams.
“It was me, Lamps and a few other players. We went to his house, Coleen and I were still young, about 19 years old. It felt a bit strange,”
“I opened the door and accidentally bumped my head into his oldest son [Brooklyn], he cried, I thought: 'Oh God'.”
“But we sat with Bex and Victoria at dinner.”
Rooney admitted that this dinner did not leave an impression of sophistication that one might expect.
“No. We met Bex and Victoria when he was still in Madrid, and had dinner. We had kebabs.”
Beckham retired in 2013, playing his last match for Paris Saint-Germain and last appearing for the England national team in 2009.
Rooney also mentioned his experience playing for the national team and his love for football.
“I always wanted to be part of it. I loved representing England, whether it was a friendly match or a qualifier.”
Rooney ended his career at Derby in 2021 after one season and transitioned into coaching.
