According to The Sun: Wayne Rooney was 'stunned' to learn about the death of Ricky Hatton.
The former boxer was found dead in his home in Manchester on Sunday, at just 46 years old.

The Manchester United legend had the honor before Hatton's significant win in 2007 over José Luis Castillo in Las Vegas.
He learned of Hatton's death after taking part in a legends football match in South Korea.
“It’s not quite sunk in yet,” Rooney said. “It’s devastating. My heart aches. I’m sure over the next few days there will be many messages coming in from all over the country, and people will realize what a gentleman and good man he was.”
Rooney also expressed deep respect for Hatton, emphasizing that the boxer was loved worldwide.
“Ricky was a good guy and a great man. He became a symbol for the nation, as he connected with people all over the world. I want to express my condolences to his family and everyone who was close to him. It’s just too early.”
On Sunday, police reported that the investigation into the death was not suspicious.
Rooney joined many famous Manchester residents in expressing condolences to Hatton's family.
Oasis star Liam Gallagher and his brother Noel also brought his belts into the ring before the fight.

Rooney learned of Hatton's death after playing in a legends match.

He took to social media to express his emotions.
“Totally stunned by the news of RICKY HATTON. It was a great honor to know him and carry his belts. Rest in peace, champ, live forever,” he wrote.
Man City also paid tribute to Hatton before the derby against United.
Players from both teams honored the boxer with a minute of applause.
A place for Hatton at the Etihad Stadium remained empty.
