According to The Sun: Matthew Hoggard humorously recalls how he had to refute rumors about his comments directed at Tony Blair during the raucous celebrations of the 2005 Ashes series victory.

Today we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the moment when England reclaimed the trophy after 18 years of waiting, winning the match at The Oval on September 12, 2005.

During the celebration, the team rode on an open-top bus through London. Following that, there was a visit to Tony Blair, where one of the players decided that the rhododendrons needed watering, and then a meeting with the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

Hoggard, who is now 48 years old, recounts:

“We celebrated pretty actively. It was front-page news in all the newspapers. We really let loose.'

He also recalls his performance:

“I went out onto the field when we needed 12, and I was very scared.'

“I have 248 wickets in tests, but everyone only remembers one delivery.'

In 2005 he secured 16 victories in the Ashes series, but most remember him for four dismissals of Brett Lee during the IV Test at Trent Bridge, which helped England achieve success.
