How to save money at Wetherspoons?
Pub visitors love Wetherspoons for its competitive prices and affordable dishes - but did you know there are other ways to save money?
Senior consumer reporter Olivia Marshall explains how to do it.
Free refills – buy tea, coffee, or hot chocolate for £1.50 and get free refills. This offer is available all day.
Check the menu – prices can vary from one location to another, even if they are close to each other.
So if you plan to order a pint at Spoons, it’s worth popping into nearby pubs to check that you’re getting the lowest price.
Choose your day – every night the pub chain hosts themed food nights. For example, every Thursday is curry night, where patrons can get a main course and drink at a lower price.
Grab vouchers – students can often find voucher books at local pubs near universities, offering discounts on food and drinks, so keep your eyes peeled.
Link the app – the Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for drinks and food from your table – but you don’t need to be in the pub to use it.
By using this, savvy customers have used social media to ask friends and family to order them drinks. The app is freely available for download from the App Store or Google Play.
Check the date – each year Spoons holds Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of the reduced tax rate for the pub industry.
This year it will take place on Thursday, September 18, and all food and drinks will be reduced by 7.5 percent.
In addition to the 12-day real ale festival each autumn, Wetherspoons also hosts a spring festival.
