Xavi Simons ignored the talk about Chelsea: Why he chose Tottenham.
Xavi Simons signed a contract with Tottenham
According to The Sun: Xavi Simons jokingly commented on the 'talk' about his move to Chelsea this summer, emphasizing that the most important thing was his response to Tottenham's call.
The 22-year-old Dutch footballer signed a contract worth £51.8 million with RB Leipzig and received a contract until 2030 with the possibility of a two-year extension.

Simons, who became known for his goal celebration as if he were answering the phone, noted:
“Talk? Don’t listen to it. The only important thing is that Tottenham called and I answered.”
The arrival of the player, who previously played for Barcelona and PSG, ends Thomas Frank's search for a new number 10, as the club was unable to sign Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze this summer.
Simons added:
“I am very happy and can't wait to get started. I have dreamed about this for a long time.”
“It's a big club, and when I spoke with the coach, I understood that this is the right place for me.”
The player signed the contract after the transfer window closed at midnight, meaning he won’t be able to participate in the game against Bournemouth and is waiting for a work permit to be granted. The new player will be introduced to fans before the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Thomas Frank, satisfied, also expressed his enthusiasm:
“I am very happy that we have signed Xavi – he is a great addition to the team.”
Meanwhile, RB Leipzig will likely begin the search for a new player to replace Simons, particularly looking towards Harvey Elliott from Liverpool.
Xavi Simons scored 17 points in goals and assists in the Bundesliga last season
The Bundesliga managing director, Marcel Schäfer, noted:
“His time at RB Leipzig is a testament to what our club stands for: supporting and developing young, talented players on their journey.”
“He has distinguished himself as an exceptional talent and is among the best attacking players in Europe, becoming the backbone of our team with his play.”
“Thank you, Xavi, for your commitment and best of luck with the new challenges at Tottenham.”
The transfer of Xavi Simons to Tottenham is a significant step for the club as it not only strengthens the team but also raises fan expectations after unsuccessful attempts to sign other players. Simons has the potential to be a key factor in coach Thomas Frank's plans, especially as his experience at big clubs brings confidence in his abilities.
It remains to be seen when the newcomer will debut on the field and how his play will affect Tottenham's results in the coming matches. The club is confident that with such a talented football player, they can achieve higher goals this season.
