England to play against Andorra at Villa Park: why the match was moved from Wembley.
England meets Andorra
According to The Sun: The England national team is ready to play its first international match of the 2025/26 season against Andorra.
The team, led by Thomas Tuchel, continues its journey towards the 2026 World Cup, competing against an opponent ranked 174th in the world rankings.
GettyAt the beginning of the international break, the 'Three Lions' have already faced certain difficulties: Adam Wharton is out due to injury, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been called up to the squad instead.
Players such as Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Jude Bellingham are also notably absent.
However, Tuchel's team must cope with Andorra at 'Villa Park' rather than their home 'Wembley'.
Why won't the England - Andorra match take place at Wembley?
The match between England and Andorra will not take place at 'Wembley' due to the Coldplay group's tour, which is happening during this period.
The group has ten concerts at the 'home of football' from August 22 to September 12.
Although 'Wembley' was supposed to be free on Saturday evening, the last two Coldplay concerts were moved due to transport issues with the subway.
Despite the tour, the match against Andorra was always scheduled to take place at 'Villa Park'.
This comes just three months after England faced Senegal at 'City Ground' in Nottingham, as well as a 1-0 victory over Andorra in Spain.
The previous game against Andorra at 'Villa Park' promises to be exciting, and although the teams may be aware of the difference in strength, it is essential not to underestimate the opponent. The English team, despite injury issues, will try to showcase their skill in front of their fans. This match will serve as another step towards the World Cup and also provide an opportunity for new talents to shine.Thomas Tuchel noted earlier this year: “We are excited to play at Villa Park, another stadium with history. I know from my own visits to the stadium this season that it can create an outstanding atmosphere and is close to St. George’s Park, which is a positive for our preparation. We hope to generate another special atmosphere and create an unforgettable moment for all fans.”
