Fiscal Trap: How Freezing Tax Thresholds Will Reduce Workers' Income.
Invisible Taxes for Workers
According to The Sun: According to data from a leading analytical center, workers will face hidden tax burdens, while retirees and those receiving benefits will experience income increases.
The Minister of Finance has decided to continue freezing income tax and national insurance thresholds until 2031. This means that over time, as salaries rise, people will move into higher tax categories.
“This will lead to an increased tax burden on workers, which could negatively impact their financial situation,” experts noted.
Thus, the system not only increases the tax burden on working citizens but also continues to support social payments for vulnerable groups.
These changes indicate a challenging situation in the Ukrainian economy, where workers risk facing greater financial pressure while social programs strive to support those in greatest need. In the context of rising salaries, it is important to find a balance between supporting vulnerable populations and ensuring a comfortable standard of living for those who work.
