Chaos before the match: arrest of the player of the National team of Nicaragua

According to The Sun: The World Cup qualifying match between Costa Rica and Nicaragua turned into real chaos when police arrived in the dressing room to arrest one of the players.

The hosts secured a confident 4-1 victory, improving their chances of reaching the World Cup finals. However, the situation before the game was tense.

The Spanish publication CR Hoy reports that nine police officers entered the Nicaragua dressing room with an arrest warrant for a player due to a child support issue.

Who precisely was the subject of the arrest is currently unknown, but it was revealed that after the match he paid the required amount, so the arrest did not take place.

“We received a request from the plaintiff regarding child support, who provided us with a court order for the arrest of a member of the Nicaragua delegation,” said Public Force Director Marlon Cubillo.

Nicaragua team officials expressed their outrage at such police intervention before an important match, raising questions about why actions were not taken earlier. They also plan to file an official complaint.

“We have been in Costa Rica for over 48 hours, why is their visit happening in the dressing room?” asked team director Javier Salinas.

Victory for Costa Rica and preparation for the next matches

The match between neighboring countries turned out to be tense, but Costa Rica showed its best side, securing a confident victory. Now the team is only two points behind Honduras, which occupies the first position in Group C within CONCACAF.

Player Alonso Martinez opened the scoring in the 12th minute, but Nicaragua quickly equalized through Junior Arteaga in the 14th minute. However, Martinez took Costa Rica ahead again, along with goals from Manfred Ugalde and Francisco Calvo confirming their victory.

Ahead for Costa Rica are two important matches against Haiti and Honduras, which could determine their chances of participating in the next World Cup, which will take place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Only the first place in the group guarantees a ticket to the tournament, while the two best teams in second place will get the opportunity to play in the playoffs.

Thus, Nicaragua not only faced legal troubles but also missed important points in the match against Costa Rica. The situation served as a reminder of how off-field factors can influence events in sports, leaving teams in unexpected circumstances before crucial matches.
