Mark Williams criticized British Airways: £12,000 for a flight change due to success in China.
Mark Williams' outrage over flight change fees
According to The Sun: Mark Williams expressed his discomfort with the British airline British Airways, which charged him thousands of pounds for a flight change from China.
The 50-year-old athlete, returning from the Grand Prix in Xi'an, was forced to change his plans due to his advance to the finals.
GettyWilliams is already guaranteed £76,000 even if he loses, and in the event of a victory, his prize money could reach £177,000.
But he was furious to learn that a significant portion of this money could be used for his return trip.
“Nice airline @BritishAirways. £12,000 to change my flight from tomorrow to Wednesday, it's time to fly with another airline,”
— Williams tweeted.
Winning the Grand Prix in Xi'an will not only boost his bank account but also make him the oldest winner of a ranking tournament in the history of snooker.
The last time the 50-year-old athlete won such an award was in 1982.
However, Williams, who celebrates his 50th birthday in March, has no desire to be part of history.
“To be the oldest? Isn't that really a record, or?”
— he noted, emphasizing that his interest in such records is not a top priority. He said that 'it would be great if I could win the tournament.'
