Fuel Price Hike in Ukraine: How Much More You'll Pay Per Liter Starting July 1.
Ukraine Introduces E10 Gasoline
According to Novyny.live: Starting July 1, 2023, Ukraine will roll out a new type of gasoline called E10, which contains 10% bioethanol. While this change may lead to a slight increase in fuel costs, experts assure drivers that the new blend will not harm their vehicles' engines. Serhiy Kuyun explained that
“the updated fuel is almost indistinguishable from conventional petroleum products”.
Currently, gasoline prices in Ukraine range from 70 to 75 hryvnias per liter. With the introduction of E10, the expected surcharge is roughly 50 to 70 kopecks per liter. This means that although the new gasoline may cause a minor price rise, it will remain within an affordable range for consumers.
Safety and Environmental Standards
Engine safety is a key concern for drivers worried about how new fuel components might affect their cars. However, experts confirm that E10 gasoline has no negative impact on vehicle performance, making it a safe option for users. The shift to this eco-friendly fuel also aligns with European practices, where the price for green fuel ranges from $15 to $25 per ton.
Overall, the introduction of E10 gasoline in Ukraine on July 1 represents a step toward more environmentally friendly standards in the fuel industry, despite the potential for a modest price increase. Drivers can feel confident in the safety of the new fuel for their cars, which makes the transition to E10 more appealing.
This move reflects global trends toward cleaner fuels and is a significant effort to reduce pollutant emissions. It could also stimulate the country's biofuel market and boost environmental awareness among consumers. At the same time, it will be important to monitor fuel price trends, as even a slight increase could impact Ukraine's economic situation.
