From September 1, 2025: Ukraine Defense lessons for high school students will radically change

According to inkorr.com: From September 1, 2025, important changes will take place in Ukrainian schools regarding the teaching of the subject 'Ukraine Defense' for 10th and 11th grade students. The new approach involves an increased workload and an updated program.

The main change will be the cancellation of the division into groups by gender, allowing all students to study the subject together, regardless of gender.

Increase in hours and program updates

The educational load of 'Ukraine Defense' will increase to 2 hours a week, up from the previous 1.5-2 hours per week.

The updated program emphasizes practical skills and the fundamentals of modern security and defense. Students will gain knowledge in first aid, drone technologies, and countering misinformation, which are extremely important in the face of modern challenges.

Experienced instructors

The Ministry of Education plans to involve veterans with appropriate education and professionals working in this field to teach. This will ensure that students receive a high level of practical training.

The state has allocated significant funds for updating the subject - 1.74 billion hryvnias were allocated for this reform back in December 2023.

Changes in teaching 'Ukraine Defense' are part of a large-scale educational reform aimed at preparing young people for modern challenges and developing practical skills in the field of security and defense.

Thus, the introduced changes will improve the quality of education and contribute to the formation of useful skills for students in the future.
