In Ukraine, since the age of 14, it has been allowed to register vehicles and motorcycles for minors, the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on September 2, 2025. However, there are significant restrictions: In order for a minor to become the owner of a vehicle, a notarized consent from the parents or guardians is required.
Registration Rules
According to inkorr.com: When registering, a special note is included in the document that prohibits the modification or deregistration of the vehicle without the consent of the legal representatives of the minor. These restrictions apply until the owner turns 18, except in inheritance cases where a car can be registered for a minor without age restrictions.
Driving a Vehicle
It should be noted that registering a vehicle for a minor does not grant the right to drive it without the appropriate driver's license and reaching the legally established age.
Therefore, minors from the age of 14 can register cars in their name, but to drive them, parental or guardian consent as well as a driver's license are required.
The amendment to the legislation in Ukraine opens new opportunities for youth, as children can now become owners of cars from the age of 14. However, it is important to remember that this entails responsibility, requiring supervision from parents. The necessity of notarized consent and the requirements for driving vehicles remain relevant and ensure safety on the roads.Read also
