Increase of excise duties on fuel in Ukraine

According to inkorr.com: The government of Ukraine has decided to raise the excise tax on fuel, which will come into effect at the beginning of 2026. This may affect prices at gas stations. According to the Ministry of Finance, excise rates will increase for all types of fuel: gasoline, diesel fuel, and liquefied gas.

Experts and market participants believe that such changes may lead to price increases for consumers. It is expected that the excise portion may add up to 2 hryvnias per liter of fuel. The founder of the Prime group of companies, Dmytro Lyoshkin, notes:

“The lack of state regulation, changes in excises, and logistics will also lead to an increase in fuel prices.”

Experts also warn that the increase in fuel prices may amount to 7-10%, and the markup may reach 5% of the value of fuel. This, in turn, threatens the emergence of a fuel crisis, which may manifest this winter with price increases of 30-40% caused by supply problems.

Before the winter period, such changes in excises may significantly affect the lives of many Ukrainians. If the forecasts come true, the increase in fuel prices will lead to a rise in the cost of goods and services in various areas, which may also reflect on the overall inflation level in the country. Therefore, it is worth monitoring further developments in this situation, as it may have long-term consequences for the economy of Ukraine.
