Fines for license plates in Ukraine: which violations will now be punished.
According to inkorr.com: Ukrainians are warned about a serious approach to violations in the use of vehicle license plates. Now such violations will not be regarded as trivial and may lead to significant fines. Law enforcement emphasizes that license plates clearly identify the owner of the vehicle.
The basis of most fines is the absence of a number, its illegibility, or violations of installation standards. Experts emphasize that, for example, a plate covered with dirt, closed by a frame, or placed in a non-designated location can already be grounds for drawing up an administrative protocol.
The fine for an absent or incorrectly issued number will be about 1190 UAH. If the number does not meet the standards – for example, if it is turned upside down, not illuminated in the dark, closed by foreign objects, or so dirty that it cannot be seen from 20 meters – fines will be imposed under the same article.
Responsibility for license plates
There is separate responsibility for using special license plates belonging to law enforcement agencies, government institutions, or diplomatic representations. For such violations, the fine can reach 2250 UAH, and for repeated violations – up to 5100 UAH, with a possible deprivation of driving rights for a period of 3 to 6 months.
Experts advise drivers to regularly check the condition of their license plates: clean them of dirt, monitor the correctness of fastening, avoid closing symbols with frames, and comply with requirements regarding lighting and placement.
Recommendations for drivers:
- Always check that the license plate is clear and legible from a distance of 20 meters.
- Ensure that the plates are placed in the designated location and properly secured.
- Avoid using decorative frames, stickers, or films that may cover symbols.
- Make sure that the plates have adequate lighting at night and are not blocked by objects.
- When using special vehicles or numbers for specific purposes, ensure their official registration, as the fine can be significant.
Drivers are reminded that violations of the rules for using license plates will not go unnoticed. The police will actively monitor compliance with the legislation, so it is better to follow the recommendations and control the condition of the plates to avoid unpleasant issues with fines.
