Account blocked after selling an apartment: PrivatBank explained the reason.

The bank ceased servicing the client after conducting transactions related to the sale of an apartment through the 'eOselya' program. This situation has become a high-profile case due to the required verification of funds and account blocking.
One of the clients, who has been using the bank's services for a long Time, reported that on November 6, 2024, he successfully sold an apartment through the 'eOselya' program. The funds were transferred to the seller's account at PrivatBank through Ukrgazbank, which issued a loan to the buyer.
The client asserts that the bank checked all documentation, including sources of income, the agreement with the developer, ownership documents, and the purchase and sale agreement.
After confirming the legality of the transaction and conducting the 'highest verification', the client transferred part of the funds to another person. The next day, PrivatBank blocked access to Privat24 and ceased cooperation with the client.
In response to this situation, PrivatBank provided an official explanation of its position.
The bank emphasized that it operates within the framework of Ukrainian legislation and in accordance with the regulations of the National Bank. It stated that as a subject of primary financial monitoring, it has an obligation to prevent the legalization of illegally obtained income, the financing of terrorism, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
To return the remaining funds, the bank offers the client to contact any branch with a package of documents, including account details from another bank, documents confirming the authority to manage the accounts, and an application for the transfer of funds.
This situation demonstrates the complex balance between the security of banking operations and the convenience of client service. PrivatBank notes that it adheres to all internal procedures and requirements for financial monitoring in Ukraine.
We also remind that the bank provided advice to owners of old payment cards.
