Boxer and IBF lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko expressed his opinion on the bill passed by the Verkhovna Rada concerning the regulation of religious organizations. The athlete expressed this opinion in his post on Instagram.

„Indeed „making history“. The godless think they have won... Do not be deceived: God is not mocked. Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap (Gal.6:7). It is impossible to mock or deceive God, His church, and His servants. In due Time, God will repay everyone according to their words and deeds... Very happy to live in a time when true faith is being tested. Peace to all“, – wrote Lomachenko.

Yesterday, August 19, Vasyl Lomachenko already wrote that those participating in the ban of the UOC MP do not understand the consequences of this decision.

According to a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, 82% of Ukrainians believe that the state should intervene in the activities of the Moscow church. This figure rose from 78% in December 2022 to 85% in May 2023.

The Verkhovna Rada passed bill No. 8371, which bans the activities of religious organizations with a governing center in a country that commits aggression against Ukraine. The Moscow church, operating in Ukraine under the brand of UOC MP, thus falls under this ban.

Earlier, in July, lawmakers seized the dais of the Verkhovna Rada, demanding that the bill on banning the UOC MP be considered. Now, the consideration of this issue is planned for the first meeting of the Verkhovna Rada after the break.

President Zelensky also announced a decision that should strengthen Ukraine's spiritual independence and deprive Moscow of opportunities to limit the freedom of Ukrainians.

Earlier, the faction „Servant of the People“ did not vote for the ban on the Moscow church. Later it was decided that the Verkhovna Rada would halt its work for some time due to deputies' unwillingness to consider this bill.

At the last session in May, deputies blocked the dais of the Verkhovna Rada, demanding to consider decisions on fortifications and drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the ban on the UOC MP.
