Ukrainian Forces Clear Contested Zones in Zaporizhzhia, Face Pressure in Donetsk.
Situation in Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk
According to UATV: Ukrainian Defense Forces are actively clearing contested 'grey zones' in the Zaporizhzhia region. Meanwhile, Russian troops are applying significant pressure in Donetsk, concentrating their efforts on the Kramatorsk and Lyman directions. As of March 2, Ukrainian forces eliminated 960 Russian invaders over the previous day. Russian artillery units suffered major losses, with 74 artillery systems, over 240 vehicles, and 5 air defense units destroyed. These figures highlight the intense, ongoing combat across the front lines.
Defense Forces Spokesperson Comments
Defense Forces spokesperson Serhiy Bratushchak noted that counter-attacking clearance operations are not limited to southern fronts.
“Today, it is Donetsk, first and foremost. It is Zaporizhzhia region. But the Donetsk front is the priority, number one on the agenda,” he emphasized.
The situation in Donetsk remains fluid. Bratushchak reported that
“obviously, Kramatorsk, first of all, will be under pressure from Russian troops.”He also stated that, despite a 'peculiar swing' in positional control, 'the Russians definitely have no particular advances here.'
Thus, Ukrainian Defense Forces continue active operations on multiple fronts, particularly in Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk, where tensions remain high and Russian losses are substantial. The active efforts of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in these regions point to the continuation of a conflict where both sides incur significant losses. Despite the pressure from Russian troops in Donetsk, Ukrainian forces demonstrate a capacity for counter-attacks and the elimination of enemy units. This underscores the strategic importance of these regions within Ukraine's overall military strategy and may influence the future course of the conflict.
