Zaporizhzhia Region Under Fire
According to Novyny.live: Russian attacks in the Zaporizhzhia region have resulted in a 6-year-old child being wounded. Over a 24-hour period, the region endured a barrage of 448 strikes, a clear indicator of the aggressor's intensified assault. The shelling targeted 34 separate towns and villages, causing widespread destruction. This region in southeastern Ukraine has been a focal point of intense fighting since the early stages of the full-scale invasion.
The Russian military employed a combination of weaponry, including:
- 218 combat drones;
- 20 airstrikes;
- 4 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS);
- 206 artillery strikes.
These attacks generated 89 separate reports of damage to residential buildings, vehicles, and critical infrastructure objects.
Attacks Spread to Other Regions
The assault was not confined to Zaporizhzhia. On February 18, the Sumy region also saw its infrastructure and homes damaged, while a Russian attack in the Kharkiv region claimed the life of a woman. The situation remains highly volatile, with civilians across these areas continuing to bear the brunt of the ongoing military aggression.
The current escalation is marked by a significant increase in shelling across eastern Ukraine, raising grave concerns for civilian safety. The deteriorating conditions in Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Kharkiv oblasts underscore the severe impact of the war on local infrastructure and daily life, necessitating an urgent response from both national authorities and the international community.
