Corruption at the border: inspector detained for receiving a bribe of 5 thousand dollars.
According to inkorr.com: Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the Internal Security Department of the State Border Service, detained a border post inspector who illegally supported a corruption scheme by receiving a bribe of 5 thousand US dollars for 'help' in being assigned to service.
The law enforcement officer agreed to 'help', but immediately informed that such 'service' would cost 5 thousand US dollars. For this money, he promised to 'order a word' with the management of the squad and guarantee service in the desired location. At the same time, the inspector 'forgot' to inform that mobilization to border units is no different from mobilization to the Armed Forces and is completely free of charge. Thus, the subject provided only general recommendations for document processing and waited for his acquaintance to be mobilized legally, simultaneously ordering him to transfer the promised sum.
The inspector was caught 'red-handed' during the receipt of a bribe of 5 thousand US dollars. He has been charged with abuse of power, which under Ukrainian law can entail up to 5 years of imprisonment.
As a result of a joint operation by the SBI and the Internal Security Department of the State Border Service, the inspector who was trying to obtain illegal benefits at the expense of his colleagues' service was detained. He now faces serious responsibility for violating the law.
This case is a vivid example of the fight of Ukrainian law enforcement against corruption. The detention of the inspector demonstrates that no criminal will remain unnoticed, and all who attempt to abuse their position will be punished. It is important that such actions contribute to the formation of trust in state institutions and the mobilization of Ukrainians in difficult times.
