Zelenskyy: Only the United States Can Facilitate Peace Talks.
Ukraine's Role in Negotiations
According to Novyny.live: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has affirmed Ukraine's commitment to diplomatic talks aimed at ending the war, stating that the United States is the sole party capable of facilitating a genuine dialogue. In an interview with the BBC, he reported progress in negotiations, specifically citing the return of prisoners of war. Zelenskyy noted that the scale of prisoner returns is now measured in the thousands, not hundreds.
The President also observed that while the Russian side is stalling the talks, they have shown movement on certain issues.
“Regarding the Russians, they are dragging their feet. But on some things, they are still moving forward,” the President emphasized. He added that preparations are underway for the next round of negotiations, highlighting Ukraine's proactive stance in this matter.
U.S. Security Guarantees
Furthermore, the United States has confirmed it will provide a security guarantee to Ukraine, which Zelenskyy described as a crucial element within the negotiation process.
“We absolutely want a result. First, prisoners were returned. Yes, probably not all of them, but the issue is no longer about hundreds. Yes, the issue is now about thousands,” the President noted.
Thus, Ukraine continues its active engagement in talks, hoping for positive outcomes in the near future. These negotiations are part of broader international efforts to resolve a conflict that has had significant global repercussions. The return of prisoners remains a pivotal humanitarian and political issue that could shape the course of future discussions and regional stability. The prospect of U.S. security guarantees may also strengthen Ukraine's position at the negotiating table.
