Zelenskyy: War Could End Within Six Months Through Direct Talks with Putin.
Zelenskyy's Remarks
According to UATV: In an interview with Sky News, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed hope that the war in Ukraine could be concluded within the next six months. He stated this outcome is possible if a meeting with Vladimir Putin and U.S. leaders takes place on neutral ground, explicitly ruling out Moscow or Belarus as potential locations. The conflict, which began with Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, has created an urgent need for a diplomatic breakthrough.
Zelenskyy warned that a refusal by the Kremlin to negotiate could lead to a prolonged and devastating conflict.
"Should the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin agree to a trilateral meeting with the leaders of Ukraine and the United States, there will be a chance to end the war within the next six months," he noted. He emphasized that direct dialogue is critical for achieving peace and underscored the immediate necessity of international negotiations to stabilize the wider region.
The Imperative for Diplomatic Action
President Zelenskyy's statements highlight the growing urgency for a diplomatic solution to a war that has now persisted for several years. Hosting talks on neutral territory could prove to be a pivotal step toward finding a compromise and restoring peace in Ukraine.
Nevertheless, the Kremlin's position remains a decisive factor that will significantly influence future developments in Eastern Europe.
