Ukraine’s Defense Forces Foil Russia’s March Offensive, Zelensky Announces New Pension Payments.
Statement from Ukraine’s President
According to UATV: On March 16, marking day 1,482 of Russia’s full-scale invasion, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine’s Defense Forces successfully disrupted a planned strategic offensive operation by Russia scheduled for March. This breakthrough underscores Ukraine’s resilience and readiness to counter the aggressor.
During his address, Zelensky also discussed social payments, pension indexation, and regional support plans. He emphasized that
“it is significant that every year during this full-scale war, Ukraine ensures social payments are made”— Volodymyr Zelensky. This highlights the state’s commitment to providing social support for citizens despite wartime challenges.
European Aid and Social Initiatives
Currently, European support totals 90 billion euros, a substantial financial resource for Ukraine. Zelensky noted that the government is working to secure full funding for social programs, stating:
“The government is working to ensure there is a complete financial resource for this. And that largely depends on our partners”— Volodymyr Zelensky.
Importantly, new support programs for pensioners will launch in April, offering additional assistance to vulnerable groups. The president stressed that national defense remains the top priority:
“Defense of the state is the first priority. The Russians are not preparing for peace. We must ensure 100% protection”— Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky also highlighted that Ukraine’s strength on the front line results from collective efforts by all Ukrainians.
“This is important because our strength on the front line is the strength of absolutely all Ukrainian positions, our communication with the world, our diplomacy, and the world’s ability to stand with us, whatever the challenges”— Volodymyr Zelensky. This underscores the importance of international support and unity in the fight against aggression.
Overall, Ukrainian authorities continue to prioritize social stability and national defense while actively working to secure international aid.
These developments underscore the critical role of international partners in maintaining Ukraine’s stability amid the ongoing conflict. At the same time, the government’s efforts to provide social support demonstrate its commitment to preserving social peace and aiding vulnerable populations during this crisis. By focusing on both defense capabilities and social programs, Ukrainian leadership aims to ensure the country’s resilience against sustained aggression.
