Zelensky in Interview with Friedman: Ukraine is Ready to Work with Trump for a Just Peace.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in his interview with American podcaster Lex Friedman, talked about Ukraine's position regarding achieving peace and the prospects of cooperation with Donald Trump.
Ukraine is ready for dialogue with Trump, but emphasizes the need to maintain its strong position. According to Zelensky, he believes that President Trump will use all available information to strengthen Ukraine.
Zelensky outlined the sequence of actions to achieve peace. First, it is necessary to negotiate security guarantees with Trump and European partners, and then start a dialogue with Russia. At the same Time, he stressed that we should not wait for Putin to want to stop the war, but rather pressure him to be forced to do so.
Zelensky criticizes the idea of a simple ceasefire without security guarantees, as this would give Putin the opportunity to regroup and strengthen his positions. He recalls the failed experience of the ceasefire in 2019.
The future of Ukraine involves development towards digitalization of processes, tax reform, and attracting foreign investment. Zelensky noted that Ukraine is ready to sign contracts and involve joint investments from American partners in various sectors.
