Meeting of Zelensky and Trump: why Ukraine did not receive Tomahawk missiles.
According to inkorr.com: Negotiations between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and American leader Donald Trump, which took place in the White House, did not yield results regarding the supply of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine.
The Ukrainian president left Washington without the agreements he had hoped for. Despite the warm start to the meeting, Tomahawk missiles could accelerate the end of the war and force Russia to come to the negotiating table.
Trump refused to provide the weapons, citing the needs of U.S. self-defense. Difficulties in negotiations arose after Trump's recent conversation with Putin, during which the latter claimed that supplying missiles to Ukraine would not change the situation on the battlefield.
The necessity of Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine
Analysts believe that Tomahawk missiles could inflict serious damage on the Russian military infrastructure by destroying strategic targets. However, after the negotiations, the issue remained unresolved. Zelensky noted that Trump did not express a clear position after the meeting.
Zelensky also confirmed that Ukraine will receive the 'Patriot' air defense system.
Thus, the results of the negotiations between the heads of the U.S. and Ukraine did not lead to an agreement on the supply of Tomahawk missiles. Trump confirmed his refusal, complicating further negotiations. The issue of missile supply remains open, although Ukraine will be able to receive the 'Patriot' air defense system.
It should be noted that despite the fruitlessness of these negotiations, support for Ukraine in the form of the 'Patriot' air defense system is an important step in strengthening its defense capabilities. At the same time, further diplomatic efforts will further escalate the situation, highlighting the uncertainty surrounding relations between the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia.
