According to ТСН: Former Prime Minister Denis Schmyhal, who held this position from 2020 to 2025, has now been appointed the new Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine.

This was announced by Volodymyr Zelensky after a meeting with Schmyhal. The President thanked him for 'systematic work in the Ministry of Defense and activated processes to ensure the protection of the state.'

'It is exactly this systematics that is now necessary for Ukrainian energy. It is important that we are able to quickly restore what has been destroyed after each Russian attack and that the development of Ukrainian energy is stable and sufficient for Ukrainian needs,' said the head of state.

The President also discussed Schmyhal's appointment to his new position with Prime Minister Julia Swiridenko. He hopes for the support of parliamentarians for 'the position of First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Energy for Denis Schmyhal.'

We remind you that on November 19, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Svitlana Hrynchuk from her position as Minister of Energy. She was a participant in the NABU and SAP investigations regarding 'Midas' — about massive corruption in the energy sector, whose organizer, according to the investigations, is entrepreneur Timur Mindich.

Volodymyr Zelensky also proposed Mykhailo Fedorov to become the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine.

Earlier, the President appointed the new head of the Presidential Office — instead of the dismissed Andriy Yermak, the former head of the GUR Kyrylo Budanov was appointed to this position.

These changes in the Ukrainian government occur against the backdrop of events related to the war and the need to quickly adapt to new challenges. The appointment of Denis Schmyhal could be an important step toward stabilizing the country's energy sector, which requires special attention and effective solutions under wartime conditions.
