Ukraine's Defense Forces Target Russian Infrastructure

According to UATV: On July 10, 2023, Ukraine's Defense Forces launched strikes against military and economic assets inside Russia. The operations aimed to weaken the aggressor's war-fighting and economic capacity, specifically hitting oil terminals and a fuel and lubricant depot in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to the General Staff, a series of critical enemy military and economic targets were successfully engaged during the night of July 10.

Targets of the Strikes

Specifically, the strikes hit:

  • the 'Kurgannefteprodukt' oil terminal in Taganrog;
  • the 'Azovnefteprodukt' oil depot in Azov, Rostov Oblast;
  • the 'Ilsky' oil refinery in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation;
  • the 'NOVATEK-Ust-Luga' petrochemical complex in Leningrad Oblast, Russia.

Additionally, a fuel and lubricant storage site near Rozovka in the Zaporizhzhia region was also struck. These actions are part of an ongoing campaign in which Ukraine's Defense Forces have hit 697 targets on Russian territory over the first six months of 2026. The significance of these operations highlights the strategic approach Ukrainian forces are taking to defend the country.

These attacks demonstrate the proactive stance of Ukrainian forces in the war, focusing on depleting the enemy's resources—a move that could severely hinder its ability to conduct military operations. Strikes on economically vital infrastructure show Ukraine's effort to leverage strategic opportunities to strengthen its defensive position. Such actions may influence the conflict's trajectory and shift the regional balance of power, as reducing the adversary's production capacity complicates its military campaigns.
