«The defense forces used a rare guided munition developed during the «Cold War» against Russian invaders», – reports Defense Express.

According to the portal Defense Express, Ukrainian defense forces used a rare guided munition that was created during the «Cold War». It was used in the fight against Russian invaders.

This munition is called the M712 Copperhead and has a caliber of 155 mm. A laser beam is used to guide it. The M712 Copperhead was created in the USA in the 1970s and is one of the first guided munitions.

The M712 Copperhead was first used during the «Desert Storm» operation, when 90 such shells were launched. It was then that the US Army tested this new weapon.

The Ukrainian military used the M712 Copperhead to strike a metal communication tower east of Sudzha. Three guided shells were fired. The shooting was conducted from an M777 howitzer.

The peculiarity of the M712 Copperhead is that it is guided to the target using a laser beam, and the range of fire varies from 3 to 16 kilometers. The weight of the shell is 62.4 kilograms.

Recently, it became known that AFU paratroopers in the area of Kurakhovo destroyed a column of enemy armored vehicles. In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully hold their positions near Chasiv Yar.

Recall that from 2025, students of higher education institutions (universities) will undergo mandatory basic general military training. However, this will not affect first-year students.

It was previously reported that men actively use universities to evade mobilization. The percentage of such students among first-year students of paid education increased to 70% in 2023, and the average age of such students reached 27 years.
