The Liberation of Bucha and Events in the Kyiv Region
According to UATV: On March 31, 2022, Ukrainian forces drove Russian troops out of Bucha in the Kyiv region, turning the town into a powerful symbol of both tragedy and resilience. During the 33-day occupation, more than 9,000 crimes were recorded in the Bucha district, highlighting the severity of the situation. Over 1,400 civilians lost their lives, including 37 children.
The following day, April 1, 2022, the last Russian units withdrew from Hostomel. By April 2, 2022, the entire Kyiv region had been liberated. These milestones marked crucial steps in Ukraine's effort to regain control of its territory.
Attack on the Drama Theatre in Mariupol
Around the same time, on March 16, 2022, the Russian military struck the drama theatre in Mariupol. This attack drew widespread international outrage and underscored the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Ukraine during the war.
