Russia sabotaged negotiations in Istanbul: Kyslytsia revealed details of the farce.
Details of Ukraine's negotiations with Russia
Serhiy Kyslytsia, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, shared details of the peace talks with the Russian delegation that took place in Istanbul. The meetings appeared to be a true farce: the Russians avoided constructive discussions about peace and proposed the creation of WhatsApp groups to simulate progress.
The Russian delegation arrived well-prepared, having dossiers on each Ukrainian delegate. The chief negotiator, Vladimir Medinsky, started with a distorted lecture on history, refusing to acknowledge Ukrainian identity.
During the negotiations, the Russians ignored important issues and only suggested creating WhatsApp groups, refusing to discuss the possibility of a ceasefire. Kyslytsia explained how Ukraine influenced the imposition of sanctions on the Russian oil industry.
Kyslytsia noted: 'Putin manipulates, his only desire is to buy Time, he is not interested in a real agreement.'
The diplomat also revealed Putin's manipulations before the Trump administration and emphasized the importance of international support in the current situation. After the unsuccessful negotiations, the international community needs to act together.
Kyslytsia stressed that in conditions of dictatorship, honest discussions are impossible, as negotiators operate under strict instructions. However, it is important to remain in contact with the dictator, reports DW.
As a result, the Ukrainian diplomat emphasized the unacceptability of the Russian delegation's position, which avoided real discussions and only offered formal solutions. Kyslytsia called for active joint actions with international partners.
The meeting in Istanbul highlighted the lack of real intentions from the Russian side for constructive dialogue. The Ukrainian side continues to seek support on the international stage, recognizing the importance of joint efforts in resolving the conflict. The situation remains tense, and further actions by diplomats could significantly impact the development of events.
