Nissan has unveiled a new plug-in hybrid Rogue: what it has inherited from Mitsubishi

Nissan has introduced the new version of its plug-in hybrid Rogue. This model turns out to be almost an exact copy of the Mitsubishi Outlander, but with reworked emblems and an updated front design inspired by the modern models of Sentra and Leaf.

Technical Specifications

Although Nissan does not mention Mitsubishi in the press release, the technical data indicates similarities. Under the hood is a familiar naturally aspirated 2.4-liter engine with an MMC 4B12 index, as well as two electric motors—one on each axle. The total power is 248 hp and 332 Nm, the same as in the Outlander. The battery remains the same: a 20 kWh battery that provides up to 61 km of electric range. A full charge from a level 2 home charger takes about seven and a half hours, and the total range with a full tank reaches 420 miles.

Trims and Prices

The plug-in hybrid Rogue is offered only with all-wheel drive and the ability to transport seven people. It has seven drive modes: Normal, Power, Eco, Tarmac, Gravel, Snow, and Mud. The trim lineup consists of SL and Platinum. Both versions are equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and four USB ports. The Platinum trim also includes a 10-inch heads-up display, a Bose sound system with nine speakers, a panoramic roof, leather upholstery, and sunshades for the second row.

Prices have not yet been announced, but it is logical to expect them to be in line with the Outlander, which starts at $42,675. The public debut of the Nissan Rogue is scheduled for the Los Angeles Auto Show this month, with sales beginning early next year.

Future of the Model

It is worth noting that the life cycle of this model may not be long. Nissan has already confirmed that production of the next generation Rogue will start in fiscal 2026. This new crossover will be the brand's first model in the USA with e-Power technology, where the internal combustion engine will only act as a generator and will not drive the wheels. The upcoming Rogue will also receive a traditional gasoline version and another plug-in hybrid, but it is currently unclear whether Nissan will develop it independently or once again involve Mitsubishi.

Thus, Nissan is actively developing its portfolio of plug-in hybrid vehicles, offering consumers new opportunities with an ecological approach. With the start of sales of the new Rogue early next year, the company is likely to attract new buyers looking for energy-efficient solutions in the automotive world. At the same Time, the development of the next generation opens new horizons for innovations in car manufacturing.
