Transnistria is left without Russian gas: Moldova offered assistance.
Industrial enterprises in Transnistria have halted operations due to a gas crisis, Moldova offers help in acquiring fuel on European markets.
The company 'Moldovagaz' is ready to provide technical and commercial support to the independent Transnistrian Moldavian Republic to facilitate the purchase of natural gas on European platforms. This was stated by the chairman of 'Moldovagaz' Vadim Cheban.
According to him, an official proposal has already been sent to the leadership of 'Tiraspolneftegaz'. The Transnistrian region can receive gas through alternative routes on the border with Moldova based on an agency agreement between these two companies.
'Moldovagaz' together with 'Energycom' is ready to provide comprehensive support for organizing the procurement of natural gas on European platforms to ensure that the residents of Transnistria have energy resources in a crisis situation,' Cheban emphasized.
Until the end of 2022, 'Gazprom' supplied about 6 million cubic meters of gas to Moldova, which was entirely directed to the protocol zone of the Dniester. This gas was used for household needs and the operation of the Moldovan GRES, which provided electricity to both banks of the Dniester.
The Russian company 'Gazprom' ceased gas supplies to Moldova on January 1, 2025, as previously warned by the President of Moldova Maia Sandu.
