Ukraine currently controls 1294 sq km of territory in Russia's Kursk Region, which includes 100 settlements. This was reported by Commander-in-Chief of the AFU Oleksandr Syrskyi during the "Ukraine 2024. Independence" forum.

According to him, the defense forces managed to capture 594 Russian servicemen.

At the same Time, Russia continues to exert resistance and increase the number of troops, transferring them to the Kursk direction from other areas.

"The Kursk operation requires significant military resources. At the moment, we can state that about 30 thousand Russian servicemen have already been transferred to the Kursk direction, and this number continues to grow," said Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi.

Syrskyi emphasized that the enemy is trying to retreat from certain directions, but at the same time is concentrating its efforts on the Pokrovske direction.

The length of the front where active combat operations are currently taking place is about 1 thousand km. Every day our defenders repel more than 150 enemy attacks, - informs the Commander-in-Chief. The main forces of the enemy are concentrated in the Donetsk Region, their goal remains unchanged - to reach the admin border of the Donetsk Region, using their advantage in the air, missile systems, and ammunition.

Recall that American officials claim that the objectives of the Ukrainian military in the Russian Kursk Region were threefold: to force Russia to withdraw troops from eastern Ukraine; to shatter the narrative of a Russian victory on the battlefield; to improve Ukraine's position ahead of potential peace negotiations. At the moment, all three objectives have been achieved, albeit limitedly.

President Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that the offensive of Ukrainian troops in Russia's Kursk Region was a "preventive strike" that allowed avoiding the encirclement of Ukrainian units and the occupation of the city of Sumy.

According to CNN, the AFU offensive in Kursk region demonstrated, in particular, the vulnerability of the Russian army. Moreover, it is a signal to Kyiv's allies that Ukraine is capable of changing the course of the war.
