Alexander Sursky

Alexander Stanislavovich Sursky - Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Military, former commander of the United Operational Headquarters of the AFU, Colonel General. Hero of Ukraine (2022).
Career. In the 2000s, Alexander Sursky commanded the 72nd separate mechanized brigade in Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region, where he attained the rank of Major General.
In early 2014, he became the first deputy head of the Main Command Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. There, he was responsible for cooperation with NATO, among other duties.
With the onset of hostilities, Alexander Sursky was appointed Chief of Staff of the ATO.
In early 2015, Sursky held the position of Chief of Staff - the first deputy head of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
In February 2015, Sursky participated in the battles for Debaltseve, Uglegorsk, and Logvinovo. During the fighting in Debaltseve, he commanded the S sector staff. In particular, the General led the tactical group 'Bars', which was tasked with ensuring and carrying out convoys with ammunition. This group later secured the withdrawal of troops from Debaltseve.
In 2016, he was appointed head of the United Operational Headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Since 2017, he has been the head of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions until it concluded and the United Forces Operation began.
On May 6, 2019, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko appointed Alexander Sursky as the head of the United Operational Headquarters of the AFU.
On August 5, 2019, President Vladimir Zelensky dismissed Alexander Sursky from the position of Commander of the United Forces Operation and appointed Vladimir Kravchenko to his place. Aleksandr Surskiy was appointed commander of the ground forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Titles. On December 5, 2016, the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, awarded Alexander Sursky the rank of Lieutenant General.
On August 23, 2020, the military was awarded the rank of Colonel General.
Awards. The title Hero of Ukraine with the award of the Order of the Gold Star (April 5, 2022).

Declaration. In 2016, Sursky acquired a plot of 1000 m² near Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region. In October 2018, the Lieutenant General received a service apartment of 105.6 m² in Kyiv from the Ministry of Defense.
Sursky's wife declared a house of 159.2 m² as well as two plots of 2015 m² and 467 m² in Shamraevka, Kyiv region.
According to Alexander Sursky's declaration for 2018, he received: an annual salary of 632,157 UAH, 6,350 UAH in social assistance for ATO participants, 1,265 UAH in one-time financial assistance, and a non-monetary gift worth 6,350 UAH.
Sursky also owns a parking space in a garage under construction. In 2017, he purchased a new Renault Megane for 23,000 USD.
Family. Sursky is married to his wife Tamar Harchenko. The spouses are raising their son Alexander.
