EU Accession Talks for Ukraine Kick Off on June 15: What’s on the Table.
Launch of Ukraine’s EU Membership Negotiations
According to UATV: On June 15, the first cluster of talks regarding Ukraine’s accession to the European Union will officially begin. EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos is traveling to Kyiv to discuss the reforms required for Ukraine’s European integration.
During her visit, Kos met with Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. Their discussions covered several critical areas, including:
- justice
- functioning of state institutions
- public procurement
- financial oversight
- statistics
These topics are essential for Ukraine’s successful integration into the EU.
The Role of Reforms in European Integration
Additionally, an intergovernmental conference will take place in Luxembourg to formally open the ‘Fundamentals’ negotiating cluster. Marta Kos emphasized the importance of the reforms under discussion, stating:
