Today, September 15, Ukraine celebrates several holidays. These are the Day of Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Forest Workers' Day, World Lymphoma Awareness Day, International Day of Democracy, and International Dot Day. Also today, believers honor the memory of Saint Nicetas the Martyr.

Day of Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

This day is intended to honor the military personnel specializing in protection against radiation, chemical, and biological threats. The Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces (RCBD) perform important tasks in supporting troops during operations and ensuring the safety of the population in case of the use of weapons of mass destruction or accidents at nuclear energy and chemical industry facilities. These troops are involved in collecting, analyzing, and transmitting information about the chemical, biological, and radiation (CBR) situation, reconnaissance, control, and protection of facilities.

Forest Workers' Day in Ukraine

This holiday is intended to honor the workers of the forestry, wood processing, and pulp and paper industries. This day emphasizes the importance of forests for the country's economy and ecology. Forestry plays a crucial role in preserving natural resources, protecting the environment, and sustainable development. Workers in this sector are engaged in forest management, restoration, fire and pest protection, as well as the rational use of forest resources.

World Lymphoma Awareness Day

This holiday was established to draw attention to the issue of lymphomas and promote information about this disease, its symptoms, and treatment methods. Lymphomas are malignant tumors that affect the body's lymphatic system, including lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, and bone marrow. Early diagnosis and timely treatment can help increase the chances of recovery.

International Day of Democracy

This holiday was established to promote and implement the principles of democracy. Democracy is a universal value that ensures freedom of thought, equality, and the protection of human rights. Democracy is the foundation for transparent elections where every citizen has the right to express their will.

International Dot Day

This holiday was established based on the book "The Dot" by English writer and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds. The book tells the story of a girl named Vashti who, believing she couldn't draw, simply made dots on paper. Her teacher supported her and helped her discover her creative potential. This story symbolizes faith in oneself and the importance of support in developing talents.

Church Holiday

On September 15, the memory of Saint Nicetas the Martyr is celebrated. He was a Gothic warrior and Christian saint who lived in the 4th century. He preached Christianity among his tribesmen and was persecuted by pagans. As a result, he died a martyr's death. The relics of Saint Nicetas are located in the Visoki Dečani Monastery in Serbia.
