Heavy losses for Russian unit: 79th Brigade of the Ukrainian Airborne Forces forces Battalion 'Oplot' to retreat near Pokrowsk.
Situation at the Front near Pokrowsk
According to UATV: The 79th Independent Taurida Air Assault Brigade has inflicted significant losses on Russian forces in the Pokrowsk area. The second battalion of the 5th Independent Motorized Rifle Brigade 'Oplot' had to be withdrawn following Ukrainian operations to restore control – a clear sign of critical, irreplaceable losses on the Russian side.
The 79th Brigade belongs to the 7th Corps of Rapid Response of the Ukrainian Airborne Forces. Its soldiers have been familiar with the 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade, named after the Ukrainian traitor Oleksandr Zakharchenko, since the beginning of the Russo-Ukrainian War in 2014. Since then, there have been numerous fierce battles, such as for Donetsk Airport, highlighting the ongoing intensity of fighting in this region. Over the years, this unit has built a reputation as a particularly formidable opponent.
Movements of the Opponent
According to available information, parts of an enemy motorized rifle brigade are relocating their positions from the area around Pokrowsk and Myrnohrad to other localities. Major General Oleksandr Komarenko assesses these steps as evidence of the difficult situation of the opponent and their reaction to the pressure from Ukrainian forces.
The situation at the front near Pokrowsk remains tense, but the actions of the Ukrainian army demonstrate their determination to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The developments at Pokrowsk not only highlight the activity of the Ukrainian side but also indicate a changed tactic of Russian troops. They need to reorganize repeatedly due to positional losses. This may point to increasing pressure from Ukrainian forces and further deteriorate the overall situation of the opponent, which in turn is likely to affect the strategic situation throughout the conflict zone. In light of the ongoing fighting, it remains to be seen how further changes will impact the course of the war.
