Ronnie O'Sullivan seeks God's help: why the snooker player turned to the heavens.
Ronnie O'Sullivan seeks support
According to The Sun: Ronnie O'Sullivan is looking for inspiration as he attempts to clinch his first title in ranking competitions in over 21 months.
The snooker legend smashed Stephen Maguire 5-0 in the last 32 at the Scottish Open in 90 minutes.
GettyThe victory included breaks of 134, 70, 63, and 85, allowing him to win 15 out of 16 frames in the tournament.
The defeat of the 44-year-old Scottish player further confirmed O'Sullivan's mastery, as he scored only 25 points across five frames.
O'Sullivan last won a ranking event trophy in January 2024 when he beat Judd Trump in the final of the World Grand Prix in Leicester.
“My snooker, I would say, is a combination of a gift from God and hard work. I am also blessed by God to have the discipline to work hard.”
Now, O'Sullivan, ranked fourth in the world, will compete against Welshman Jak Jones for a place in the quarter-finals this week.
O'Sullivan on his season
He noted: “I feel I have played brilliantly all season. Every match has been good.”
However, Ronnie also emphasized that “this game has a way of humbling you” and he understands that tough moments can always arise.
O'Sullivan expressed his dissatisfaction with the table conditions at the Scottish Open, stating that they were probably the “most difficult” conditions he has ever encountered.
“The conditions were so tough. My chances of winning were significantly reduced without the right conditions.”
In conclusion, former world champion Stuart Bingham halted the 19-year-old Stan Moody's path with a 5-0 win, while world number three Neil Robertson lost 5-4 to Chinese player He Guochang.
Now, O'Sullivan continues his fight to regain the top spot, overcoming difficulties and not losing faith in his abilities. His match against Jak Jones will be yet another test on the path to victory. The last time Ronnie celebrated a title in a ranking event was in January 2024, and fans eagerly await his return to titles.
