The cute cat became an F1 star during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix “Paddock cat” overshadowed the racing superstars of Baku
Everyone wanted to see the cat
The cat returned despite being removed from the paddock twice for safety reasons
Fans are asking for a special name for the F1 guest
Event Star
When famous drivers such as Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton arrived at the paddock for media events on Thursday, even their shine could not eclipse this unusual guest.
The cute cat became a real sensation, attracting the attention of team managers, photographers, mechanics, and fans.
The striped hero wandered through the paddock, inspiring admiration in everyone who saw him.
Interestingly, F1 staff made two attempts to remove the cat from the paddock for safety, but he always returned, continuing to interact with his fans.
Eventually, the so-called 'Baku paddock cat' may be given a new name.
F1 photographer and content creator Kim Illman called on his followers to come up with a funny name for the cat, picking the best one as the new nickname.
“Safety cat.”
“Furrari.”
“Paddy.”
“Mr. McClawren, at your service.”
One fan also suggested: “Max Purrrrrrrstappen.”
The social media manager of the Mercedes team gifted the cat a mini helmet, hinting at their driver Kimi Antonelli, suggesting the name: “Kitty Antonelli.”
Memory Problems
It’s known that Verstappen is a big cat lover, and the mother of Williams driver Alexander Albon urged her son to take the cat home.
On the Instagram account @AlbonPets, she wrote: “Hi. If you see Alexander at @williamsracing, ask if he can give you a lift.”
Name suggestions included “Furrari” and “Max Purrrrrrrstappen”
“Please let him know that mom and big sisters say you can live with us at home.”
The Thai-British driver has eighteen cats, a dog, and a horse, and jokes that he finds it hard to remember them all, so the new pet may not fit in.
His former team Racing Bulls also actively offered to adopt the cat, posting a slideshow of images where the cat was carefreely lying on the tarmac.
This weekend, athletes should focus on racing, as the gap between leaders has grown to 31 points after the controversial swap between McLaren drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris at the Italian Grand Prix.
Currently, Verstappen, who won that race, has qualified for the 24-hour race at Nürburgring, obtaining his A Permit last weekend.
