How to Return from AWOL Under a Simplified Scheme — Response from the Ministry of Defense.
Let us remind you that the Ukrainian army is facing the problem of unauthorized abandonment of units (AWOL). However, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Kateryna Chernohorenko, announced the possibility of a simplified return for those who have taken such a step until May 10, 2025. Assistance can be requested through the Army+ app or directly from the leadership of the military unit. The deadlines for such a return are limited – until August 30, 2025.
It is also worth noting that it has already been reported about the possibility of resuming payments for servicemen with AWOL status. At the same time, there was a recorded case in Poltava region when a serviceman was held accountable for unauthorized abandonment of the military unit, although he voluntarily returned after the first escape.
